Cala Luna Beach

Cala Luna Beach, south of Cala Gonone in Sardinia, is a crescent of white sand backed by high limestone cliffs. The best beach in Sardinia, It is a little difficult to reach. The beach is on the North Western coast near Dorgali.

The beach is very suitable for tourism activities swimming, diving and snorkeling, Cala Luna beach has a wealth of animal and plant underwater life, the atmosphere is still quite a natural, just behind the beach there are rolling hills covered in lush vegetation.

The beach is a beautiful 700 meter long half moon crescent (hence the name which means half-moon in Italian)overlooking the Gulf of Orosei. The water is azure and crystal clear –the shallowness of the water means that it is a great place for children.

Not be only the best beach in Sardinia but the best beach in the entire Mediterranean. On one side of the beach there are six small caves and nearby, reached by boat, there is the grotta (cave) del bue marino.

Cala Luna Beach it can be reached by boat leaving from the port of Cala Gonone or from the beach of Marina di Orosei. By foot follow the path leaving from Cala Fuili or Balnei.

The walk is not the easiest so if you don’t feel up to it, or have young kids, then boat is the best option.
